I have always wanted to learn how to make jewelery. This past summer I took Jewelry I. Here are some of the things I've made.

Process
Bracelet
The bracelets are made from a single sheet of 1/16 inch thick nickle. The cutouts are achieved by drilling a small hole into the negative and then using a small fine jeweler's saw blade in this hole. Once the cut was complete, I filed and sanded the surface to a 1000 grit, then gave it a hand rub finish at 600 grit. I then finished it by cutting out tape into the pattern of the bracelet and etching it with chemicals. Although I was not satisfied with the etching, I was very happy with the whole process and the opportunity to challege my craftsmanship.
Necklace
The Micky D's necklace was a project on combining different metals. It was the most challanging project by far because I had to handcut and fit each piece of metal, as well as solder it. I wanted to honor the iconic American franchise and make the joke of McDonald's having a "leash around your neck".
