About Us
DACHA is a restaurant which focuses on creating a family environment.

With its name translating to “a seasonal or year-round second home, often located in the exurbs of Russia."
Our mission is to bring people together and give a sense of home as well as home cooking with a modern high end twist.

Inspired by Russian church domes.
Soup is a staple of Russian cuisine. I experimented with the form and ended up with this design, which insulates the heat from the soup, keeping it hot while making it pleasent to the touch.

Process
The spoon is completely handmade. I experimented with a various of thicknesses and the number of rods. I ended up chosing three, quarter inch welding rods. I first soldered the ends together. Then, while heating the rods with an oxy propylene torch, I twisted them to give a swirl look. The spoon bowl was beat out of a quarter inch plate then grounded down.
The positive of the raw fish plate was first made out of plasticine then a mixture of plaster and silica was mixed and then poured over. Glass cunks were then put into the cleaned negative mold, placed in a kiln then cleaned after its fully melted and cooled.
